The Panda of Google

Search results, serach results, search results. See a few of the most talk about trends, that will get you noticed by Googles Panda update, in a good way.

Google Panda was designed to go after sites with a high capacity of thin or low-quality content in an effort to develop the overall strength of the search results.  The unfortunate reality shows that with just about every Panda update had some affect on well-established brands even with good content.

The good thing about taking the hit, is the ability to learn and recover. Coming back from a serach ranking hit is not an easy process. It takes a lot of time and a lot of changes, but there are ways to recover.

Here are things that cause good sites to get caught up, in a good way, with Google Panda:

  • Slides shows
  • Mobile
  • View ability
  • Other advertisement and promotion problems
  • Identical content or page elements
  • Syndicated content
  • Overlying content
  • Internal search and tag pages
  • Incorrect or blank pages

Panda recovery usually requires a mix of template and technical changes combined with the elimination, consolidation and de-indexation of low-value pages through strategic use of 404s, permanent redirects, rel=canonical and meta robots “noindex” tags, surrounded by other things.
